The armies of heaven follow Christ when he comes to strike down the Nations

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.  His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.  He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.  The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.  Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.  On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.

Rev 19:11-16

In Jude, it says that Christ returns with his ‘Holy Ones’ to judge the ungodly.

In Revelation Ch 17, the Lamb will be accompanied by his called, chosen and faithful followers when he wages war against the 10 kings and the beast.

Here Christ is pictured riding a white horse, eyes blazing like fire, wearing many crowns and dressed in a robe dipped in blood.  His name known only to himself.  None other than the word of God.  Coming out of his mouth was a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations.

The armies of heaven were following him.  Dressed in white linen and mounted on white horses.  These are none other than the believers who appear in heaven earlier in the chapter and are now returning with Christ as his warrior bride to judge the nations.

The Nations are the Godless, Pagans or unbelieving Gentiles who rejected the Gospel.

Some of them were kind to Christians and refused to worship the beast and receive his mark.  Many accepted the mark of the Beast and persecuted the Christians.

God will separate them into the Sheep and the Goats.

The Sheep, who were kind to Christians, will be rewarded and allowed to continue to live as the Nations on Earth during the Millennium and in Eternity as well (provided that they do not rebel when Satan is released at the end of the Millennium).  They will not be part of the New Jerusalem but will be able to enter it once a year.  They will need the leaves of the Tree of Life for healing.

Judgment of the Nations (Pagans) on the Day of the Lord

The Battle of Armageddon is not to be confused with the Final Rebellion of Satan at the end of the Millennium

The Battle of Armageddon is not to be confused with the Final Rebellion of Satan at the end of the Millennium

The final rebellion of Satan in Revelations 20:7-10 at the end of the Millennium is NOT the battle of Armageddon. The battle of Armageddon is when the Beast and the False Prophet are defeated. Satan is bound for a thousand years and thrown into the Abyss. After the 1000 years are over, Satan is released for a short period but rebels once again. Fire comes down from heaven and defeats the nations that surround the camp of God’s people and Satan is thrown into the Lake of Fire which is the Second Death. This Rebellion at the end of the Millennium is not Armageddon. The Lake of Fire is where the Beast and the False Prophet were thrown when they were defeated at Armageddon.

The Battle of Armageddon precedes the Millennium

Posted by gospelclips on June 26, 2009

The Day of the Lord culminates with the Battle of Armageddon. It is the Final Judgment upon the Nations (Pagans) where the Beast and the False prophet are defeated. It precedes the Millennium. It is not the same as the Battle of Gog and Magog at the End of the Millennium.

The Day of the Lord culminates with the Battle of Armageddon. It is the Final Judgment upon the Nations (Pagans) where the Beast and the False prophet are defeated. It precedes the Millennium. It is not the same as the Battle of Gog and Magog at the End of the Millennium.

Rev 16:12-16 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, Euphrates and it’s waters dried up to prepare the way for the Kings from the East. Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out from the mouth of the Dragon, the mouth of the Beast and the mouth of the False Prophet. They are the spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world to gather them for Battle on the Great day of the God Almighty. Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him so that he may not go naked and shamefully exposed. Then they gathered the kings together to that place that is called in Hebrew ‘Armageddon’

This is the only place in scripture where the word ‘Armageddon’ is used. It is one of the Bowl Judgments on the Nations. It is completed by the end of the Seventh Bowl. Rev 16:17-21 The Bowl judgements are poured out at the end of the Great Tribulation upon the Nations of the Earth after the Church has been raptured. This is where the Beast and the False Prophet are defeated. The Battle of Armageddon is the Last Event to take place before the Millennium starts.

Some Christians (post-millennialists) believe that the final rebellion of Satan at the End of the Millennium (Rev 20:7-10) is the Battle of Armageddon. Premillenialists see this battle at Gog and Magog as a separate event at the End of the Millennium where Satan is finally thrown into the Lake of Fire after being given one last chance (it nevertheless has many similarities to the Battle of Armageddon in which Christ leads an army of redeemed believers to strike down the Kings of the Earth, the Beast and the False Prophet. Rev 19:11-21)

The battle of Armageddon involves the Beast and the False prophet and the Kings of the Earth. Rev 16:12-16

The battle of Gog and and Magog does not involve the Beast and the False Prophet. Rev 20:7-10 It is therefore, not the same as the battle of Armageddon.

The battle of Armageddon takes place at the End of the Great Tribulation before the Millennium Starts.
